Umar Kremlev believes that everyone in the world needs to forget the entire invasion of Russian troops.

Another strange decision from the International Boxing Federation. Now the president of the organization, the Russian Umar Kremlev, wants the whole world to turn a blind eye to what is happening in Ukraine, remove sanctions from his compatriots, and allow him to participate in all international competitions. In this appeal he turned to the IOC.

“The IBA has taken the first step towards equal opportunities and fairness. The IBA will continue to do everything for the sake of its athletes and coaches, we must create conditions, not make them worse.

Again I want to say that sport is not in politics. We should have nothing to do with the political games of the world.

The IOC needs to rethink its approach to all athletes. The decision to exclude some of them because of their nationality is contrary to the principles of the Olympic movement, it harms all sports.

I am calling on the IOC to allow athletes to continue competing, I am calling for a change in the policy that excludes athletes.

I want to appeal to the whole world of sports: let all athletes compete. These are not political tools, these are the victims of political decisions. They don’t deserve to be treated so badly by the entire sports environment.

Politicians do their job to advance their interests, and we must do our job to keep our athletes and sports safe.

The sports world is being blocked by politicians and, unfortunately, is losing its autonomy. There should be no political games behind athletes. This is not safe for the future of the sport. The IOC should rectify the situation immediately. It is necessary to give the green light to all the athletes, because they are not guilty of anything,” the official IBA website quoted the Russian Kremlin as saying.

Recall that the International Boxing Federation, previously ruled by the Kremlin, removed all sanctions from the Russians, allowing them to compete under their own flag and with one anthem. At the same time, the IBA imposed a ban on Ukrainians – forbidding them to perform with national symbols.
