Dmitry Salita spoke with Eddie Hearn immediately after the fight between Joshua and Usyk
Dmitry SalitaSwedish heavyweight promoter Otto Wallinasaid that the boxer is preparing for a potential fight with the ex-world champion Anthony Joshua.
“Eddie (Hearn) and I spoke after the Usyk fight and he expressed interest in fighting Wallin. Then there was a conversation with Tyson (Fury) about the fight with Joshua, so our negotiations were suspended.
“I know that the name Otto is mentioned among some others, and this interests us very much, we reported this to Eddie. From a boxing fan’s point of view, Joshua’s fight with Wallin makes sense. From what I know and from what I understand, Otto is preparing for a possible fight with Anthony.”
Earlier, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn announced his readiness to make a deal with any of the top 15 boxing ratings. Hearn considered options for Wallin, Joe Joyce. Another contender for the fight with the British heavyweight is 39-year-old Chinese Zhang Zhilei.
In August, Joshua lost by split decision to Ukrainian boxer, WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Anthony has been in talks with WBC champion Tyson Fury for a fight in late 2022. However, the parties could not agree on the final details of the contract.
