Gutzeit: In the Boxing Federation of Ukraine, the president today is Mr. Shevchenko. And this is within the law.

Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit commented conflict in Ukrainian boxing.

– You called on FBU President Vladimir Prodivus to leave the position of Vice President of the International Boxing Association (IBA) because of the support of Umar Kremlev. He refused. Is this the case when your influence on the situation ends there?

– But only. I can’t influence a public organization. I can only recommend, only ask. Each president of the Federation chooses his own path. When we learned that the Kremlin [опять] elected president of the IBA, and Vladimir Prodivus vice president, for us it was unacceptable. It can not be. Generally.

I, as the President of the Ukrainian Fencing Federation, have a similar example. In our European Fencing Confederation, the leader was a Russian. There was a congress, and I took the floor there so that we would remove this president. They supported me, and we removed it.

And here a Russian is elected, and our president does not oppose, but also becomes vice president. Well, that’s totally unacceptable at a time like this. That is why I asked Mr. Prodivus to resign and condemn this situation. But he did what he did. It’s his choice.

The Ministry is working in the legal field. That is, with federations as public organizations in accordance with their charters. With the presidents of the federations, who are registered in the Ministry of Justice. By that time Prodivus was the president of the FBU, but before the war there was a congress where Shevchenko was elected president. Therefore, then the Ministry of Justice changed [в реестре] surname for Shevchenko. And we work only in the legal field, so we work with it.

I can’t influence it in any way. I don’t choose [президентов]. Because it is interference in a social organization.

– On the other hand, Prodivus calls it an attempt to raid the FBU and does not recognize changes in the register of the Ministry of Justice.

– Does not recognize – there is a court. And we work in accordance with the current legislation and do not influence the procedures taking place in the all-Ukrainian federations, and who is registered in the Ministry of Justice as their president. In the Boxing Federation of Ukraine, the president today is Mr. Shevchenko. And this is not my vision or desire, it is within the framework of the law.

Recall, on February 22, an extraordinary reporting and election conference of the FBU was held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. Representatives of 17 regional federations elected Kirill Shevchenko as the new president of the FBU.

On June 20, the Boxing Federation of Ukraine sent an open letter to the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, in which it announced the raider seizure of the organization.

In May, Prodivus joined the IBA Board of Directors. Russian Umar Kremlev was re-elected President of the International Boxing Association.
