Latvian-born Canadian fighter Mikhail Tsirkunov, in an interview with , said he followed the story with interest. Vyacheslav Datsik an MMA fighter who rose to popularity following his release from prison in 2019.
Cirkunov competes in the UFC and will face Alonso Manfield on October 15 in Las Vegas.
– You watch something on YouTube in Russian about MMA – after all, a lot of everything?
I don’t watch interviews a lot. I turn it on more often, if they come to the fighter, the person appears in the frame, talking to the hero. It was very interesting for me to see Datsik when he got out of prison and they showed how he gained a lot of weight, how he decided to start training again and get out of this hole. And he seems like such an aggressive guy there, but it was interesting to see how good can come out of bad with the help of sports. I remember many laughed, said, “Well, who can beat there?!” And once, once, once, he won on one, on the other. He trained very well, they helped him and now he won against Emelianenko. They used to laugh when someone said he would win against someone like Emelianenko, but he won. A very interesting character. Happy. – said Tsirkunov.
One of the first interviews with Datsik after his release was recorded by correspondent Alexander Lyutikov in the Leningrad region. In the last fight, Datsik knocked out Alexander Emelianenko according to boxing rules.
Cirkunov has been performing in the UFC since 2015, in 2016 the fighter was included in the promotion’s top 15 light heavyweight rankings.
