Oliveira’s coach thinks the Brazilian will knock out Makhachev in the first or second round

Diego Lima, mixed martial arts trainer Charles Oliveira expects the Brazilian to beat the Russian Islam Makhachev at UFC 280 by knockout.

Oliveira (33-8) and Makhachev (22-1) will meet in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 22 to contest the vacant UFC lightweight belt. Previously, the champion was a fighter from Brazil, but he lost the title after failing the weigh-in at the May 7 tournament.

“In malls, mosques, markets, everywhere we go, people are totally supporting Charles. Everyone comes to take a picture with him saying he’s a real champion. Another important point, jiu-jitsu is part of the local culture, it is taught in schools and even in the army. So we feel at home.

Of course, (Makhacheva’s coach Javier) Mendez has to believe and praise his athlete just like me. Since he believes that Islam can beat Charles whenever he wants, I have to believe that Charles will knock him out. I believe he will do it in the first or second round. If the coach doesn’t believe in his fighter, who will believe in him? – quote the words of Lima sherdog.com .
