Athletistic/ Boxing. Russian UFC lightweight Islam Makhachev (22-1), 31, noted he would move up to welterweight if he defended the UFC lightweight championship belt at least 3- Four times.

“I have to defend the belt at least 3-4 times to move up to welterweight,” Makhachev said in an interview with Shak MMA. “I don’t want like Kamaru Usman to defeat the same opponents, I will be ready to fight for my legacy with other fighters from another division.”

The UFC lightweight title fight between Makhachev and Charles Oliveira (33-8) will take place on October 22 at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
