Athletistic/ MMA. Russian mixed martial arts fighter Islam Makhachev cited the fact that top UFC fighters regularly shun him as his main problem.
“Throughout my career, I’ve had a problem – all these guys at the top of the rankings are avoiding me. It’s not my fault. I never pick opponents, and now that problem is going to go away, because I will become a champion and they will all call me. I called Chandler, Poirier, Gati, but no one answered me,” Makhachev said.
On October 22, Makhachev will face Brazilian Charles Oliveira for the UFC lightweight title. The fight will take place as part of the main event of the UFC 280 tournament in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Charles Oliveira (33-8-0 (1)) has won 11 of his last fights. The last time the Brazilian fighter defeated American Justin Gaethje was on May 7, 2022 at UFC 274 – the fight ended with Gaethje submitting after a rear naked choke in the first round.
Islam Makhachev (22-1-0) last fought Feb. 26, 2022. He defeated American Bobby Green by TKO (punches) in the first round. The Russian’s winning streak lasts 10 fights.
