Russian bantamweight fighter petr yan reacted to the comparison of his fight with Sean O’Malley and the fight Conor McGregor With Jose Aldo organized at the end of 2015.
UFC chief Dana White previously compared Aldo and McGregor’s fight as likely a fight between a young, flamboyant prospect and a tough promotion veteran.
“This fight is similar to Aldo vs. Conor, as Sean sees himself as a UFC draft and positions himself as Conor, maybe, but I’m sure the outcome will be different. You saw our fight with Aldo,” Yang said during the media day ahead of UFC 280.
McGregor defeated Aldo by knocking out his opponent in the 13th second of the fight, and became the UFC champion in the up to 65.8 kg category.
Yan will face O’Malley on October 22 in Abu Dhabi. For a Russian fighter, the bout will be the first non-title bout since 2019.
