Davis was called one of the possible rivals of Lomachenko
Contract for a fight between the WBA world champion in three weight categories Gervonta Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) close to signing.
“I think this fight is very close to signing a contract. Basically, the deal has already been closed. There are some details that need to be improved. We still need to agree on telecontracts. Our position is very clear, we will see what other parties say. Both Ryan and Gervonta want this fight to be their next. Neither of them wants other rivals,” Showtime CEO Steven Espinoza said in a statement.
Garcia has previously said fans are demanding he fight Davis. Also, promoter Eddie Hearn believes that this fight has huge potential.
In the last fight, Garcia defeated Javier Fortuna ahead of schedule. The fight was stopped in the sixth round after another knockdown by Ryan.
Gervonta Davis fought his last fight at the end of May, defeating compatriot Rolando Romero to defend his WBA lightweight title.
