Jan, 29, is one of the strongest bantamweights in the world. The Russian was the UFC champion, and should have stayed that way, if not for the stupid fight with Aljamain Sterling. There the Russian hit a forbidden knee to the head, due to which he lost his belt. Going forward, he failed to return the championship belt, he lost to Sterling by judges decision.
Yan has only three losses in his career, two – in battles with Sterling. It’s clear that Peter is focused on getting the belt back quickly. And the fight with O’Malley is a chance to get back in the big game.
As for O’Malley, he’s a rising star in the UFC. So far, Sean has 15 wins with one loss. But he had no really serious rivals yet. The fight with Jan is a real test for an American.
