The Ukrainian received an invitation to the camp of Gilberto Ramirez
Former light heavyweight world champion Alexander Gvozdyk participates in the training camp of the Mexican Gilberto Ramirez before his duel with Dmitry Bivol.
According to the Ukrainian, Ramirez’s managers, like earlier Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, see Gvozdyk as a worthy sparring partner who can prepare well for the fight.
“They invite me to the camp because for some reason people see some similarities. Maybe in anthropometry, although I don’t think so. I don’t really try to copy anything, I just do what I can. It is not so easy to copy someone else with such an athlete. I want to get less on the head myself, so I do what I can.
“It was the same with Alvarez. I was invited because they see certain similarities in me in manner. But, again, I repeat, I don’t think so, but they know better. I’m kind of a Bivol hater, but not really. They invite me to go.”
Recall that in May, Dmitry Bivol managed to hold another successful defense of his WBA belt. Dmitry extended his unbeaten streak in the professional ring to 20 wins in a row by defeating Saul Alvarez.
The next defense of Bivol’s fight is scheduled for November 5th. The rival of the Russian will be Gilberto Ramirez, who represents Mexico. The fight will take place in Abu Dhabi at the Etihad Arena and will be broadcast on the DAZN streaming service.
As for Gvozdyk’s career, the 35-year-old Ukrainian boxer spoke about future plans to resume competing in November. However, the name of a possible opponent of the Ukrainian has not yet been reported.
In 2018, Gvozdyk became the world champion by defeating Adonis Stevenson. After that, Alexander had one successful title defense.
The Ukrainian fought his last fight in the fall of 2019, losing to Artur Beterbiev by technical knockout in the tenth round. In 2020, Alexander ended his career.
