Former UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov called on social network Islam Makhachev the most deserving fighter he had ever seen in his life.
On Saturday, Makhachev defeated Brazilian Charles Oliveira in the second round of UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi to become the promotion’s lightweight champion.
– I have seen many champions and many champion level fighters, but Islam Makhachev is the most worthy. First, my father, then I said more than once that Islam is the summit of summits, and we were all convinced of that yesterday.
The most interesting thing about all of this is that this is just the beginning. I am very happy for you brother, you have been heading towards this for a long time,” Nurmagomedov wrote.
In total, the 31-year-old Makhachev has 23 wins and one loss in MMA. The Russian managed to win the championship title on the first try.
