Lomachenko: The situation began to change in our country, we began to win back territories, and I realized that I could return to boxing

Since the beginning of the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, Lomachenko has been in the territorial defense of Belgorod-Dniester

Former world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko called the reason why he decided to resume his career and fight against Jemaine Ortiz.

“I feel great. There are a few days left before the release in the ring. The situation began to change a little in our country, we began to win back territories, and I realized that I could return to boxing.

“The worldview in general has changed in general, because you understand that your life can end at any moment. Therefore, you begin to appreciate just every moment of your life, something that was not there before.

Earlier, Lomachenko told why he took a break from his career and stayed in Ukraine in the first months of the war.

The Ukrainian boxer will return to the ring on October 29. Lomachenko’s fight with Jemaine Ortiz will take place at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York. Opponents have already had a duel of views before the fight.

Lomachenko had his last fight in December last year, defeating Richard Commey by unanimous decision. Subsequently, Vasily could fight with George Kambosos, but refused it against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
