UFC has commented on the notes of Charles do Bronx, who lost his belt at the time of the weigh-in and claimed that the scales were wrong
In the UFC, there’s been no talk of anything else since last Friday, the 6th, other than the controversial weigh-in of Charles do Bronx, which even made the Brazilian detonate the Arizona athletic commission, responsible for regulating the event. Now, the scenario has changed after a revelation by one of Ultimate’s directors about the conference balance.
It turns out that according to reports from many fighters, the digital conference scale, which is made available by UFC it was already out of order on Thursday night, the 5th, and the athletes were only informed about it on Friday morning, just a few moments before the official weigh-in began, which ended up getting in the way of the weight cuts.

Thus, UFC vice president of regulatory affairs and former member of the Nevada Athletic Commission, Marc Ratner spoke in an interview with the podcast “MMA on Sirius XM”. The director defended the event’s organizing committee, and ensured that the analog scale that was used was correct. However, he also admitted that the fingerprint may have been out of calibration.
“The official scale, which is what they weighed themselves on Friday with the Arizona commission, between 9am and 11am (local time), 28 of the fighters made it to weight. So I’m very, very sure there was nothing wrong with wrong on this scale. This scale was accurate”, said Marc Ratner before completing.
“What people are talking about is, the night before, there’s a scale that fighters can check their weights on. Some fighters wanted to change the scale from pounds to kilograms, which you can do, and something that might have changed. We have proof of nothing, but that might have taken that balance sheet out of calibration”said.
Also according to the leader, the organization only discovered this fact on the scales around 8:00 or 8:30 am on Friday and then went in search of changing the object. He also said that the fighters were warned of the problem before they went up for the weigh-in, something Charles of the Bronx revealed didn’t reach him or even his team.
Marc Ratner also defended the use of the analog scale, used by the Arizona commission and also by the Nevada commission, among many others. In his view, using digital scales could increase the problems of failure in weight cuts precisely because of their precision of details, something that does not happen in the current one.
“Digital scales, sometimes you have tenths of an ounces, a pound is 16 ounces. You would hate to have a regular fight and the weight should be 155 pounds (70.3kg) and you can go up to 156 (70.8kg), but in digital scale you can weigh 156.2 (70.9kg). That also doesn’t make sense. We always use the meat scale, it’s accurate, it’s balanced, it’s calibrated, so I have no problem using it. We’ve had success using it for all 15 years I’ve been using”, explained.
