“The bruise in the Olympics worked like a PR? If I had a choice, I would fight without a bruise” – judoka Taimazova

Judoka Madina Taimazova admitted to reporters that the story of her bruising at the Tokyo Olympics worked like a PR, but she would rather go to the Olympics without him.

Earlier, at the Russian Championship in Yekaterinburg, the 23-year-old Ossetian defeated Dina Gizatulina from Chelyabinsk in the final of the weight category up to 66 kg.

How was the tournament for you?

“I won, that’s the most important thing. I haven’t felt competitive motivation for a long time, and in general, this is the first Russian championship for me. Doubly pleasant.

– The Olympic medalist did not participate in the national championship. How?

– It always coincided with the World Championship and other important tournaments, priority was given to international departures.

– You were considered the first candidate for victory in Yekaterinburg. Press like this?

– It’s always difficult for the favorites, they agree in a particular way. Together with the rival in the final, Dina, we are also in the team of the same region, we know each other very well, we constantly train together. I wanted to end the fight with a winning throw, but I failed. I didn’t get enough sleep and everything else overlapped, I won on points.

Do you know why all judokas have long hair? They regularly twist the knot on the head, correct it, pick it up. It’s embarassing.

– There are athletes with short hair, almost all Japanese women, for example. And there, it just coincided, a matter of taste. I never wondered why.

– If you come back to Tokyo and remember your famous bruise, which did not prevent you from winning the Olympic medal, would you agree that he made you public relations?

– I don’t know about PR, but if they offered to fight with or without a bruise, I would choose the second. Although I understand that everything could have turned out differently in terms of the outcome.

– The Russian team hoped until the end to go to the World Cup in Tashkent. I did not go. Were you ready for this?

I believed and wanted. When I found out, I was very upset.

What are you looking for as motivation now?

“It’s a difficult time for everyone, in all spheres of life, including sport. Someone’s loved ones are suffering, someone’s friends. Sportspeople are also worried about their loved ones, in addition, we are deprived of experience in international competition, we fall in the rankings. It is worrying. We can only hope for the best, for our return to world judo, there is no other options,” Taimazova said.

The Russian Championship in Yekaterinburg will last until November 4. On the last day of the tournament, there will be team ranking competitions.
