The absolute world champion in lightweight wants to fight with the Ukrainian boxer
Bill Haneyfather and coach of the absolute world champion Devina Haney (29-0, 15 KOs), said that his son is ready to fight the ex-world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko.
“Devin said, ‘Let’s do it.’ Devin is a hunter and he hunts for greatness. Now it all comes down to putting on a show and bringing it to life. We are fully committed to this fight and are not only leading this process, but also encouraging other influencers to join it. It will be a historic event in boxing.”
“We are after Lomachenko. Lomachenko says he needs time. We were leaving the ring and he said, “I need time, but I’ll be ready.” I said, “Devin, have you heard that shit?” He replied, “Yes, I heard.” I said, ‘We’ll see who else wants to fight as long as Lomachenko takes his time.'”
“Lomachenko is the guy we are looking for, he is the guy we want to fight. Devin wanted to fight him then and wants to fight him now.”
In October, Haney defeated George Kambosos again and retained the WBC, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight titles. Devin himself has repeatedly stated his readiness to meet Lomachenko in the ring.
Last week, Lomachenko defeated American Jemaine Ortiz by unanimous decision – 115:113, 116:112 and 117:111. For the Ukrainian, this victory was the 17th in the professional ring.
