Judoka Alexandra Babintseva after winning the gold medal at the Russian Championship in Ekaterinburg, she thanked the judo federation for organizing the competition.
In the final fight in the category up to 78 kilograms, Babintseva defeated Alena Prokopenko.
– How did you spend the period after the Spartakiad in Kazan, where you also won?
– I went to the training camp in Minsk, then to Lake Krugloye. After him, they let me go home, worked with my coach for three weeks, worked out a plan with him and took me to the Russian championship.
Is that why you won the final in seconds?
– I did not expect it, I connected for a long fight. I don’t know Alena Prokopenko very well, she went from the category up to 70 kg. I’ve never competed with her before, only in training, but it’s very different.
– Does the Russian championship at least to some extent replace the world championship, where the Russian team had planned, but could not go?
– Probably not. For starters – yes, a replacement. Feel the nervousness, feel the competition. But these tournaments are very different in many ways.
– You won the final so quickly that it felt like a lot of unspent energy on your part.
“I would still struggle, to be honest. Today I slept and realized: this is my day, excellent mood, excellent condition. A lot of work has been done, so I deserve this medal.
Will there be a great rest after much work?
I will rest in retirement. Until the end of the year, I plan to go on the Russian Tour to Chelyabinsk or Kaliningrad, there will be at least two starts. We have enough competitions with the support of the federation, otherwise the motivation would be gone.
– Is the level of the rivals sufficient to progress?
“Young people are stepping on their heels, you won’t relax. Sooner or later they will replace us,” Babintseva told reporters.
The Russian Championship in Yekaterinburg will end on November 4. On the last day of the tournament, there will be team ranking competitions.
