National federations must not be silent on issues surrounding boxing’s future at Olympics, says Kremlev

National federations must not remain silent on the future of boxing at the Olympics, says the president of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Umar Kremlev during a meeting with the participants of the Youth World Championship, which takes place in Spain.

You are our future. Fight here like never before to achieve your dream. We will do our best to continue to create the conditions for your future development.

Coaches and boxers are the main values of the IBA alongside the national federations. Without coaches, there would be no athletes and no boxing in general. I am here to help you all. We cleaned up our sport and saved the IBA from bankruptcy. Now we must not be silent, we must fight for our rights. If we don’t talk, there will be no boxing in the Olympics. We must not be afraid to prevent this crime,” the IBA website said citing the Kremlin.

The World Junior Boxing Championship for men and women kicked off in Spain’s La Nucia on November 14.

The IOC suspended IBA membership in 2019. The federation was suspended from hosting the Olympic boxing tournament in the 2020 and 2024 Olympics. Boxing is still not on the 2028 Olympic program.
