The World Boxing Council will push for a mandatory title defense by a British boxer.
The World Boxing Council will allow its heavyweight champion Tyson Fury to fight Oleksandr Usyk in a unification fight.
According to WBC President Mauricio Suleiman, the organization will not insist on the mandatory defense of his British champion title, but postpone this fight to another day.
“I don’t want to speculate, but from a practical standpoint there were a lot of variables that didn’t work out. Fury should fight, Wilder and Ruiz should fight.
There are some things that are beyond my control. So the description of the situations is too responsible for me, but it is quite possible that everything will happen that way,” said Suleiman in a comment on the iD Boxing YouTube channel.
It will be remembered that Oleksandr Usyk had a problem with the organization of the singles match. The Ukrainian is obliged to make a mandatory defense of the IBF title against Filip Hrgovic.
