ACA league fighter, formerly of UFC, Albert Tumenov commented for “” on the words of the UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (23–1; up to 70.3 kg) on the urge to move up to the weight class up to 77 kg after several belt defenses. Makhachev became UFC champion in October and could make his first defense against featherweight fighter Alex Volkanovski in February. After the title fight, the Russian fighter told reporters that he wouldn’t rule out moving up to a heavier weight class.
“There will be good competition for him, because there are some really big players in the welterweight class,” said Tumenov, who also competed in the welterweight class. – At 70 kg he is huge, big for this weight class, and at 77 kg all the guys are huge. But if he wants to do it, then why not.
– You performed in the category up to 77 kg – did you have a big difference with him when you were in the same room?
“I haven’t seen him lately, but when I saw him he was like me, or maybe even a little taller. But I am a small welterweight, I weigh around 85-86 kg.
Earlier, in an interview with , Tumenov ruled out returning to the UFC next year, saying he wants to compete in the ACA Grand Prix.
