The fight will be the main event of the evening in Washington
WBA Regular lightweight title holder Gervonta “Tank” Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) decided on his closest opponent.
Davis enters the ring January 7 at the Capital One Arena in Washington in the main event of the Premier Boxing Champions evening. Tank’s opponent will be the hitherto undefeated Dominican Hector Garcia (16-0, 10 KOs).
Garcia is the WBA super lightweight champion of the world. In his last fight, the 31-year-old boxer defeated Venezuelan Roger Gutierrez.
Davis fought his last fight at the end of May, defeating compatriot Rolando Romero to defend his WBA lightweight title. The manager of the ex-world champion Vasily Lomachenko, Egis Klimas, said that the fight between the Ukrainian and the “Tank” would be a “megafight”.
At the same time, Gervonta has already agreed to fight with American lightweight Ryan Garcia. The face-to-face meeting is scheduled for 2023.
