Krasyuk: Usyk after defeating Fury can hold an exhibition fight with Canelo or Mayweather

Ukrainian is unlikely to move to light heavyweight

Alexander Krasyukpromoter of WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight title holder Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs), spoke about the possible plans of the Ukrainian after the fight with the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs).

“Usyk has mentioned returning to cruiserweight. He said that as a heavyweight in training camp you have to work 50 percent more. Under normal conditions, he’s a cruiser.”

“Usyk said that after he beats Tyson Fury and becomes the undisputed world champion, he can go down and fight, for example, with Canelo or Mayweather. More for fun, more like an exhibition fight. That’s something he mentioned because being a heavyweight is a big challenge for him.”

“Has he thought about competing at light heavyweight? It’s impossible. He might have to cut off his own leg to do it. I don’t think it’s real.”

Promoter Frank Warren has previously said that Usyk will be Fury’s next opponent after the Brit’s fight with Derek Chisora, which is scheduled for December 3. The same thesis was confirmed by Tyson himself, who announced his readiness to fight the Ukrainian after the fight with Derek.

At the same time, Fury does not want the IBF belt to be at stake in the battle with Usyk. The International Boxing Federation has appointed Croatian Filip Hrgovic as the mandatory contender for the title, but Tyson does not intend to pay the IBF fine for not defending the belt.

In addition, the Gypsy King has announced three fights for 2023. Promoter Alexander Krasyuk said that the working date of the Usyk-Fury fight is February 18.

Recall that Saul Alvarez said he was open to a potential fight with Usyk. Canelo defeated Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin in his last fight and defended his titles.
