Tyson praises Joe’s level
WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury thinks Joe Joyce tougher opponent than the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk and I’m ready for my next fight with him.
“People have been asking me all night, ‘Who is harder to fight, Usyk or Joyce?’ In my opinion, Usyk is a trickier boxer, but Joyce will give me a tougher fight than Usyk. It’s 100%. Who do you think will be harder? With a huge Joe coming at me, trying to smash me to pieces, or Usyk trying to steal a jab, running around the ring, trying to grab a point here and there.”
“I think Usyk is a very good fighter. I’m not going to take anything from him. He is the undisputed heavyweight champion and unified heavyweight champion. So he had a fantastic career, but I think I can handle him. But like I said, I really think the biggest test for me is Joe Joyce.”
“Joyce did everything that was required of him. He beat Bryant Jennings, a world class fighter, Daniel Dubois, a world class fighter, and my good friend Joseph Parker. He’s ready. As I said, if we can’t agree with Usyk, then we will agree with Joe and we will definitely arrange a battle of the titans.”
Recall that Fury defeated Chisora and retained the WBC heavyweight title. After the fight, Fury first called Usyk to the ring, and then Joyce and said that he would fight him at Wembley if Usyk did not want to fight.
Fury planned his next fight against Usyk in February-March 2023. However, Fury’s injury could affect the timing of the fight with Usyk. Tyson injured his hand in a duel with Chisora. Recovery will take 6-8 weeks.
In September, Joyce knocked out Joseph Parker and became the interim WBO heavyweight champion.
