Another boxing organization has thrown a punch in the fight for the title of the absolute championship.
Another hurdle in the fight for the absolute world heavyweight champion title between Tyson Fury and Alexander Usik. The World Boxing Association (WBA) has also nominated a contender for the Ukrainian title.
This happened at the congress of the organization. And the WBA announced the decision on social networks.
Usyk has to defend his belt against WBA Regular title holder Briton Daniel Dubois.
Meanwhile, insider Mike Coppinger opined on Twitter that the WBA decision will not interfere with the Usyk-Fury fight. The journalist recalled that Dubois and Fury had a promoter – Frank Warren.
“The WBA decision will not stop Fury vs Usyk for the undisputed title. Both Fury and Dubois are promoting Warren. But Dubois will be next in line for a mandatory fight. There is a round for to the unified champion and now it is established that he will be next,” Coppinger wrote.
It can be recalled that the World Boxing Federation (IBF) previously ordered Oleksandr Usyk to defend his belt in the fight against Croat Philip Hrgovic.
