On the night of September 18, Alvarez defeated Golovkin by unanimous decision and defended his titles. All judges gave Canelo the win – 116-112, 115-113, 115-113.

In early November, Alvarez underwent surgery on his left wrist. Canelo plans to return to the ring in May. Saul’s possible opponent is WBO mandatory contender John Ryder.
