Boxer thanked for a great career
Undisputed World Super Middleweight Champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez received an interesting thank you from the residents of his native city.
In Juanacatlán, Mexico, a statue was erected in honor of the boxer. As such, Canelo was thanked for his many career accomplishments.
On the night of September 18, Alvarez defeated Golovkin by unanimous decision and defended his titles. All judges gave Canelo the win – 116-112, 115-113, 115-113.
In early November, Alvarez underwent surgery on his left wrist. Canelo plans to return to the ring in May. Saul’s possible opponent is WBO mandatory contender John Ryder.
For his part, Alvarez wants an interim fight in May, and then he’s aiming for a rematch with WBA light heavyweight title holder Dmitry Bivol.
