The promoter explained how the Ukrainian champion can beat Fury
Alexander Krasyukpromoter of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyktold what his ward needs to do in order to defeat the WBC title holder Tyson Fury. He also noted the important role of the coaching staff and the training camp.
“He should do the same thing he did in his last ten fights. He needs to be fast on his feet, throw nearly a thousand punches in 12 rounds and work his way up to win on points. If he gets close to the knockout, he’ll use that opportunity like a wild predator. It’s in his blood. But that was never his main goal,” Krasyuk said.
“Usyk enters the ring to raise his hand after the fight. That’s all he cares about. He fights according to plan. The corner of the Mustache gives him discipline, tells him how to do it. He only needs to comply with the requirements of the corner.
“I don’t think the question is what Usyk should do in the ring. The question is what he needs to do in training camp. When Alexander goes through 12 weeks of hard work, hell, he approaches the fight with great confidence. He doesn’t care what he thinks or what others think. He worries about his goal and what he has to do in the ring. So nothing complicated about the plan for the fight. But mental games before the fight can play an important role.”
Earlier, Krasyuk said that the deal for the unification fight between Usyk and Fury was almost completed. The fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion could take place in February or March 2023.
The most effective working date for a Usyk-Fury fight is March 4th. The contract of the fight may include the option of a rematch.
The fight between Usyk and Fury may be affected by the Briton’s injury, which he received in a duel with Derek Chisora. It is expected that Tyson will need 6-8 weeks to recover.
