Four Mexican championship belts are at stake
The promotional company Matchroom Boxing has officially announced the third fight between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.
The fight will take place on September 17th. The venue will be announced later.
Alvarez and Golovkin had two fights in 2017-18: their first fight ended in a draw, the second fight was won by a majority decision by the Mexican.
In September, Canelo will defend the title of undisputed super middleweight champion, in which Golovkin will compete for the first time.
In May, Alvarez suffered the second defeat of his career, losing by unanimous decision to Russian Dmitry Bivol in the fight for the world light heavyweight title.
Golovkin last fought in April when he defeated Japan’s Rieta Murata by TKO to unify three middleweight championship belts.
