The Ukrainian world champion claimed an individual prize following the results of a successful 2022 for himself.
The authoritative publication The Ring announced the list of nominees in the Performance of the Year category.
Four boxers were nominated in this nomination, among them Ukrainian world champion in WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
The full list of nominees for the award from The Ring:
-
Dmitry Bivol (for victory by unanimous decision against Saul Alvarez);
-
Shakur Stevenson (for a unanimous decision win over Oscar Valdez);
-
Oleksandr Usyk (for a split decision victory in a rematch with Anthony Joshua);
-
Jesse Rodriguez (for an eighth-round stoppage victory over Srisaket Sor Rungvisai).
It should be noted that in 2021 Shakur Stevenson won this nomination for his performance in the fight against Jamel Herring, and in 2020 Teofimo Lopez won the award for his victory over Vasily Lomachenko.
