The Dominican refused to go to the ninth round
WBA champion in three weight classes American Gervonta Davis ahead of schedule won the Dominican Hector Luis Garcia in a lightweight bout.
This fight became the main event of the boxing evening in Washington. Garcia started the fight well, but gradually the initiative passed to Davis. At the end of the eighth round, Gervonta hit his opponent twice with direct hits and he refused to continue the fight.
Now Davis is facing a fight with Ryan Garcia, which is scheduled for April 15 in Las Vegas.
At the end of May last year, Gervonta defeated compatriot Rolando Romero and defended his WBA lightweight belt.
Recall that the fight between Davis and the Dominican was on the verge of collapse. Gervonta was arrested in Florida – the boxer was charged with bodily harm and domestic violence. Davis was soon released after a court hearing on $1,000 bail.
