Chukhajian lost to Ennis via unanimous decision

All judges gave the victory to the American – 120-108

Ukrainian boxer holding the IBF Intercontinental Welterweight title Karen Chukhadzhyan lost fight for the status of a mandatory contender for the IBF championship belt against an American Jaron Ennis.

The fight took place in Washington on the undercard duel between Gervonta Davis and Hector Luis Garcia. Ennis for the first time in his career went the whole distance, and the judges unanimously gave him all the rounds (three times 120-108).

Early in the fight, Chukhajian moved and boxed a lot, and Ennis jabbed, trying to cut off the center of the ring. The Ukrainian even almost took the fourth round, but then the American dominated, who at the end of the fight switched to body shots.

In the final rounds, Ennis could not knock out Chukhadzhyan – the Ukrainian kept a good movement and avoided most of the American’s punches.

At the weigh-in before the fight, Chukhadzhyan was almost 0.3 kg heavier than his opponent. Karen weighed in at 66.32 kg (146.2 lb), while the American reached 66.04 kg (145.6 lb).

The last fight before the fight against Ennis Chukhadzhyan held in early July last year. Karen defeated Australian Blake Minto to defend his IBF Intercontinental Championship.
