“That moment was very subtle” – boxer Kuzmin about a knockout in a duel with Larty

Russian heavyweight Sergei Kuzmin described the situation with a knockout in a duel with Richard Larty from Ghana at the “Knockout Kings-9” tournament in Moscow. The fight, which aired on , ended with Kuzmin winning by knockout in the first round.

– Hard in training, easy in battle. This is how it happened now. Everything is logical – intensive training is not in vain. I learned a lesson from the last two fights and I didn’t want Richard Larty to have some kind of fake moment. I worked very carefully not to give the man a single chance. He ran from the first seconds and wanted to hang on. But I’m not right here. I did everything the corner demanded,” Kuzmin told reporters.

– Describe the situation with the knockout?

This moment was very subtle. It was necessary either to catch up towards, or in front of the curve. From the first seconds, I saw that he was coming towards me and, without preparation, trying to hang on to me. Well, 125 kg … Every blow is felt. As for the knockout… I pulled him with my front hand, I failed, he went towards me and at that moment, coming out, a straight line flew towards him. And he himself tripped over my shot.

– In the first round, he managed to apply a wrestling technique.

– Actually, my leg hurt and I slipped. I want to have the next fight as soon as possible. I want to achieve my full potential. I want to bring another championship title to our country and show spectacular fights.

Kuzmin, 34, now has 17 wins (13 by knockout) with two losses. The 30-year-old has 14 wins (11 by KO) and 6 losses.
