Vyacheslav Senchenko is unhappy with how the last days of preparation for the fight between Chukhadzhyan and Ennis went
Trainer of Ukrainian welterweight boxer Karen Chukhadzhyan – Vyacheslav Senchenko commented on the organization of the fight against the American Jaron Ennis.
“To the problems with the training process, there were also problems with the organizers of the fight. In Prague, we were going to go to Ukraine three times. We were already told almost a day before departure that we were not going, plus there were problems with a visa – the Americans were delaying with documents. By the way, I know that they have already found two replacements for Karen, one of them is our Ivan Golub, who lives in New York. I will say this: the organizers did everything so that we did not get to the USA.
“When we arrived in the US, they didn’t give us a contract to fight. They told us to go to an open training, and we say: “Give me a contract for the fight, because we will return to Ukraine.” Already in Washington, we were going to go to Ukraine. And they constantly told us: “Come on later, we are something here, we are something there.”
“They persuaded us to go to an open training. When we returned after training, they again said that we would not go out without a contract for a fight.
“It wasn’t with Al Haymon and PBC, it was with Jaron Ennis’s manager, who wasn’t expecting us here. In the end, Maxim Mikhalev (Chukhadzhyan’s manager) contacted Errol Ceylan, who helped us a lot by resolving this issue with PBC and TGB. The head of the latter, Tom Brown, took the fight under his own control and, together with ShowTime, gave us guarantees that it would take place. And the day before the fight, we knew we were boxing.”
Recall that Chukhadzhyan lost the fight for the status of a mandatory contender for the IBF championship belt against Ennis. For the first time in his career, the American went the whole distance, and the judges unanimously gave him all the rounds (three times 120-108).
