Deputy Minister of Sports of Dagestan, former footballer of Anji Budun Budunov expressed confidence that the former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov can be useful in absolutely any place.
On Thursday, Nurmagomedov posted a photo with the fighters on a social network, signing: “Take care of your brothers. I hope my decision will only be beneficial, I hugged you all. Later, his trainer Javier Mendez said that the athlete’s departure from the MMA industry was because he wanted to spend more time with his family.
Khabib is a very smart and deep person. His decision was certainly not spontaneous. He probably knows what he’s doing. We will support any decision he makes. I think whatever he wants to do next will be for the good of our country. Nevertheless, he is our pride, a difficult person. I hope he is doing well with his health and other matters. But until I talk to him, discussing his exit from the MMA industry is kind of a mistake.
Usually whatever Nurmagomedov does, he does well. A very intelligent guy, a real son of his father, who gave him a lot. But for now, we know pretty much the same as you. I think it will take a day or two and everything will finally clear up.
– How would they perceive if he also later started working at the Ministry of Sports of Dagestan?
– I think Khabib will be useful anywhere, wherever he is. Whether it is a ministry or any other field. He is able to give tremendous support to any project, knowing his high attitude to himself, his friends, his culture… He achieves success everywhere, shows a high standard in his activities. So much help from him! A person who thinks badly cannot reach such heights. Therefore, our Khabib is always and everywhere expected, he will always be useful.
Nurmagomedov became UFC lightweight champion in April 2018 and officially retired in March 2021. Under his guidance, Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov won the championship titles in the UFC and Bellator lightweight divisions, respectively.
