Former WBC heavyweight champion Grigori Drozd in a conversation with , he hinted that Britain’s Anthony Yard would be able to impose the competition with a fight with Russian Artur Beterbiev.
Beterbiev will defend his belts against mandatory challenger WBO Yard on Jan. 28 in London. The Russian has 18 first wins in 18 fights in the professional ring. Yard has 23 wins and two losses. Yard is familiar to the Russian viewer from the 2019 fight in Chelyabinsk with Russia’s Sergey Kovalev, in that fight Yard lost earlier than expected.
– It’s an interesting fight. I admit that the last time I saw Yard was against Kovalev. But even this Yard impressed me and, in fact, it lacked focus, experience and functionality. For a split second, he lost his concentration or was just tired. I think Yard has grown since the fight with Kovalev. And I think Yarde can have chances against Beterbiev, but Artur, of course, will be the favorite. I think we are in a competitive duel, – said Drozd “”.
