Two-time Olympic boxing champion Oleg Saitov reacted to the news that the president of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Umar Kremlev falls under Ukrainian sanctions.
On Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky introduced restrictive measures against 198 Russian cultural and sports personalities. Among those sanctioned, in addition to the Kremlin, were general producer Alexander Taschin and channel commentator Dmitry Guberniev. The limitation period is 10 years.
– Kremlev develops boxing, helps people. I think everyone who is at least something of themselves in Russia falls under sanctions. Perhaps the fact is that he objected. Many countries did not want him to become IBA President, but he did. I hope this will not prevent him from leading international boxing as well, because there are big projects: for example, to build sports halls in Africa and in other countries, to raise boxing, to organize championships of the world. The Kremlin now holds major tournaments with big prizes, more so than at the Olympics, Saitov told .
