Redkach on canceling Broner fight: There are a lot of mean people in boxing who ruin boxers’ lives and shatter their dreams. I’m done with boxing

The fight was scheduled for February 25

Ukrainian welterweight boxer Ivan Redkach reported that retires and his fight with former world champion Adrien Broner will not take place.

“This fight with Adrien Broner has to happen, no matter what, we both want it. But there are people who do not want this. I respect Broner and BLK (the organizers of the fight) for all his merits.

“Thank you BLK for giving me the opportunity, I’m in pain right now, I stole the fight of my dreams, the fight of my life. Boxing is my life. I came to the boxing gym when I was 6 years old. I let my team down. My family, my fans, you were all looking forward to this fight, but it’s not my fault. Sorry”.

“There are a lot of mean people in boxing who ruin the lives of boxers and shatter their dreams, it hurts me. I’m done with boxing. I was loyal to boxing, but when a boxer’s hands are tied, he can’t fight.”

Earlier, the Redkach-Broner fight was postponed to February 25. Initially, the boxers were supposed to meet in the ring on February 18 in Atlanta.

Redkach lost to Prograis in the spring of 2021, suffering his sixth defeat. Since that time, the 36-year-old Ukrainian has not entered the ring.

Broner has only fought once since losing to Manny Pacquiao in January 2019. In 2021, the American defeated Giovanni Santiago on points.
