British boxer Tyson’s Fury is expected to receive a larger share of royalties than his title unification heavyweight rival, the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk if the fight takes place at Wembley Stadium in London, according to promoter Bob Arum.
The fight is expected to take place in the first half of 2023.
– Everyone agreed that if the proposal of Saudi Arabia is accepted, the fight will take place there. Otherwise, we will fight at Wembley.
The fighters agreed to fight. I spoke to (another promoter) Frank Warren. We’re giving them until the end of this week to make an offer that I think we’ll get. If that doesn’t happen, the boxers will fight at Wembley. And then we will have to talk about the amount of the fee, because Usyk wants to get half of it. It’s not fair if the fight takes place at Wembley, there will be 95,000 Brits in the stands, a lot of money will come from Britain, so Tyson deserves the lion’s share of the fee.
But we won’t get there, if (investors in Saudi Arabia) come, they make deals with each of the fighters, boxingscene said as quoted by Arum.
Usyk owns the WBA, IBF, WBO heavyweight championship belts, he has 20 victories in the professional ring. The WBC Fury heavyweight champion has won 33 fights, one of his fights ended in a draw.
