According to coach Deontay, boxing skills will decide everything in the fight for the absolute title
Malik Scottcoach of former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilderwants, for his ward to face the winner of the fight for the absolute title in a heavyweight match between the WBC champion Tyson Fury and WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk.
“Honestly, I just want this fight to happen and Deontay Wilder to fight the winner. Opponents 50/50 chances? I think no”.
“I bet if I ask you why Fury will beat Usyk, you will answer that because of his size. I think this fight will depend more on boxing skills than size.”
“Size can be dealt with appropriately if you know how to deal with it, but I think this struggle will come down to real skills. Usyk will have to hit and Fury will be high. Especially when you’re punching a nimble southpaw.”
A unification fight between Usyk and Fury could take place in February or March of this year. Promoter Alexander Krasyuk said that the most effective working date for the fight with Fury is March 4th.
Promoter Frank Warren said the bout between the Ukrainian and the Brit could include a rematch clause.
Recall that Wilder will fight his next fight in the spring of 2023 against former world champion Andy Ruiz.
