The ONE Fight Night 6 tournament card, which will be broadcast in Russia early in the morning of January 14, gives fans of different types of martial arts a chance to cheer on their athletes, as it includes fights in all four sports disciplines of ONE – Thai boxing, grappling, kickboxing and MMA.
World No. 1 featherweight kickboxing title fight
After 10 months of waiting, a fight in the weight class up to 70.3 kg will take place, where the current champion Superbon Singha Movinn will defend the belt against the main challenger Chingiz Allazov. Superbon’s fight against Allazov was scheduled to be the main event of the tournaments twice in 2022, but injuries and illness led to a postponement.
The two athletes approach the fight at the top of their form: the Thai fighter arrives with a series of twelve victories. As for Allazov, fans still remember his impressive kickboxing victory (ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix). Then the 29-year-old fighter dominated all three rounds of the tournament, winning the prestigious silver belt and earning the right to fight for the Superobon gold belt.
#2 Two Co-Main Title Fights
The ONE Fight Night 6 card features two co-main battles at once. First up, BJJ phenom Mikey Musumechi will be defending his ONE World Grappling Flyweight Championship (up to 61.2kg) for the first time. His opponent is 2022 World Combat Sambo Champion Gantumur Bayanduuren. This fight is another round in a series of clashes between jiu-jitsu and sambo in the ONE ring.
In the second fight, Thailand’s high-speed striker Superlek Kiatmu9 will take on the energetic Spaniard Daniel Puertas for the vacant ONE Kickboxing World Flyweight Championship. With Superlek’s quick strikes and deft movement technique on one side, and Puertas’ thunderous power and brash style on the other, the fight is destined to be a sports thriller that will keep viewers on their toes until at the very end.
#3 Retribution by Ekaterina Vandareva
The spectacular blonde Ekaterina Vandareva returns to the ring after almost a year’s break with a strong desire to punish her rival Anna Yarunsak. Both athletes will perform for the first time after a long break. Their last fight resonated in the world of martial arts: in January 2022, Anna won a tough split decision victory over Ekaterina, but this result caused discontent both from the public in the arena and from fans on social networks. For the first time in ONE history, promotion president Chatri Sityodtong handed out a $50,000 bonus to losing fighter, Vandareva.
Anna Jarunsak has kept a clean record in ONE, but many fans are still questioning the legitimacy of her victory. She intends to rectify the situation in the rematch and dispel all doubts about her. By her own admission, after the win, a wave of hate hit her on social media from Thai fans. It will be especially important for her to impose herself in front of them at the Bangkok stadium, where she is from.
Vandareva recovered long after the last fight – it turned out that her arm was broken in two places. She changed trainers and in a year went through fire and water at the famed Andrey Gridin gymnasium, where both ONE champion Roman Kryklya and Chingiz Allazov, the main fight challenger of the evening train. Ekaterina is a three-time Muay Thai world champion. This time, she doesn’t want to leave the decision to the judges: “My strategy for the fight is to go out and do my thing the way I need to.”
#4 First ONE Superfight Mixed Female
The first mixed women’s superfight will go down in ONE history. Stemp Fairtex and Anissa Mexen will square off in a four-round bout that will alternate between Muay Thai and MMA rules. Stemp will perform at home in front of an audience that loves him. Her track record includes ONE world title in kickboxing and Muay Thai, and now she is the No. 1 contender in MMA atomweight. She wants to defeat her opponent, but it will be a difficult task. Anissa Meksen is a seven-time kickboxing and Muay Thai world champion with an incredible professional record of 103-5.
#5 Return of Rodthang Jitmuangon
Global Muay Thai superstar Rodthang Jitmuangnon will be looking to make a name for himself in his second ONE ring kickboxing match. Undefeated in 12 fights under the auspices of ONE, he holds the Muay Thai flyweight championship belt.
He will be looking to extend his winning streak to get closer to a chance at a second title. His rival from China, Jiduo Yibu, will have a hard time: Rodtang is very popular in his native country thanks to his legendary iron chin, his overwhelming strength of the arms and legs, which is based on an inimitable way of fighting artistically and even slightly cheeky.
