Joshua in talks to fight Franklin

The American is waiting for an official offer from Anthony

Former World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua began negotiations about a fight with an American Jermain Franklin. Franklin’s promoter Dmitry Salita announced preliminary contacts and is awaiting an official offer from the British team.

“Yes, Jermain is thrilled to be able to once again show British boxing fans that he is the best American heavyweight in the world. As you saw in the fight with White, Jermain is not afraid of a big name, even if it is thousands of miles from home.

“His mindset is to become world heavyweight champion. Beat Joshua, beat White in a rematch and fight the winner of Fury vs Usyk,” the promoter said.

In his last fight, Franklin lost a decision to former “interim” WBC heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte. Joshua in August lost a split decision to Ukrainian boxer, WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua is expected to fight his next fight in London on April 1st.
