Fight with Costa Rican Jimenez will take place on January 28
Ukrainian WBA bantamweight champion Artem Dalakyan (21-0, 15 KOs) commented on the upcoming fight with the Costa Rican challenger David Jimenez (12-0, 9 KOs).
“Jiménez is a good boxer, undefeated, he has 12 wins, 9 knockouts. He hits well with the right hand, his left side is also good. He keeps moving forward.”
“To say that I saw something there that I hadn’t seen before – I won’t say, or something that I couldn’t drag – I didn’t see anything.”
“I’m looking forward to a good fight, a good opponent. That he will give me a good fight for which I will be ready.”
The Ukrainian will defend his WBA belt on January 28 in London at Wembley. The fight will take place on the undercard of the fight between Arthur Beterbiev and Anthony Yarde.
Dalakyan, 34, won the world title in 2018. In November 2021, in a duel against Luis Concepción, the Ukrainian successfully defended the belt for the fifth time.
Jimenez defeated American Ricardo Sandoval in a duel for the status of a mandatory contender for the WBA belt. According to the results of the fight, the judges gave the victory to the Costa Rican by a majority of votes.
