The Australian estimated the chances of Vasily to win over the absolute world champion
Former Undisputed World Lightweight Champion George Kambosos shared his thoughts on a possible fight Devina Haney and Vasily Lomachenko. According to him, the Ukrainian will not be able to defeat the American champion.
“I foresee Haney defending his titles against Lomachenko. I really like Vasily as a person and a fighter. I just think old age has crept in on him and Haney is too good. Stylistically, this is a bad fight for Lomachenko. For me, the fight with Devin was also bad, but as fighters we take such a risk. I think Haney will look good in this fight, make a statement and vacate the titles,” Kambosos said.
“At that time, we will decide on our next fight, and the titles will become vacant. Big name lightweights will hunt for the belts and I’ll be one of the big fish again.”
Kambosos lost to Haney twice for the WBC, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight titles. In the second fight in Melbourne, all the judges gave the victory to Devin: 119-109, 118-110, 118-110.
Lomachenko defeated American Jemaine Ortiz in the last fight. For the Ukrainian, this victory was the 17th in the professional ring.
The Lomachenko-Haney fight is likely to take place on May 20. The fight could take place in Las Vegas or Madison Square Garden in New York.
