Russian fighter Pavlovich apologizes for post calling him a ‘black killer’

Russian UFC fighter Sergei Pavlovich apologized for reposting a social media post that described him as a “black killer”. The words referenced Pavlovich’s win over Derrick Lewis. Users accused the athlete of racism.

Pavlovich explained that he marked the post, which was later deleted, as he did not fully understand what was written in it due to poor knowledge of the English language.

“Because of the language barrier, I did not understand the weight of what was written about me. The message was posted by mistake and I do not agree with what they wrote about me. The post was not made by me. Peace to all,” Pavlovich wrote on social media.

Pavlovich, 30, has 17 wins and one loss.

MMA tournaments are broadcast live on the federal channel and thematic channels of the holding, as well as on the sites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
