“Tank” won by technical knockout in the sixth round
WBA World Lightweight Champion (Regular) Gervonta Davis commented on his victory over Rolando Romero in today’s fight.
“Tank” inflicted the first defeat of his career on his opponent, defeating him by technical knockout in the sixth round. Davis is not going to give Romero revenge.
“I don’t think people deserve a rematch when they get knocked out like that. I’m not trying to be funny. Another thing is if it was a good fight before the knockout, 9-10 rounds, and then someone would catch him with a cool blow. But I think I won on the judges’ cards,” Gervonta said after the fight.
“I started to warm up as the fight progressed. I don’t think we need a rematch, but my ears are open to everyone else who wants to fight me at lightweight. I feel comfortable here.”
“For me it [бой с Ромеро] was not personal. It was cool. I took it personally at first, but that’s part of boxing. I realized this and began to have fun. I didn’t take it personally. If you look at the latest press conferences, I always laughed there. And he was serious when we did stare battles and so on.”
By defeating Romero, Davis defended his WBA (Regular) lightweight title for the third time.
