Russian boxers will take part in the International King of Morocco Mohammed VI Prize Tournament, which will be held in Marrakech from January 31 to February 12. This was reported to in the press service of the Russian Boxing Federation.
These competitions will be the first after the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes by the International Boxing Association (IBA) to tournaments without any restrictions. Accordingly, boxers can perform under the national flag and with the national anthem.
The competitions in Morocco are a stage of the World Boxing Tour (WBT) – a new tournament under the auspices of the IBA. The circuit includes several competitions divided into three categories: gold belt, silver belt and bronze belt. Morocco will host the Golden Belt Series. In WBT tournaments, boxers score points that count towards personal and team rankings. At the end of the year, the best boxers and the best national teams will be determined by ranking. The top 4 boxers in each category will meet in the Diamond Belt tournament at the end of the year to determine the best of the best.
More than 370 athletes from 53 countries have already confirmed their participation in the tournament in Morocco.
