Ismailov on the fight with Mineev: “There is interest in the third fight, we would go in and end it”

Russian mixed style fighter Magomed Ismailov announced his desire to fight a third fight with Vladimir Mineev under boxing or MMA rules in a new weight class.

Previously, Mineev and Ismailov had two middleweight fights (up to 84 kg) in October 2018 and October 2021. The first fight ended in a draw and the second ended in favor of Mineev by TKO in the third round.

— There are unfinished goals in my head. Sometimes you set goals that you haven’t achieved and they hold you back, although you can go in other directions. They are [направления] it seems so, i have branched out except for the MMA tracks, but there is an understatement that i want to end.

– Do you still want to fight with Vladimir Mineev?

– That’s one of the goals. I would like to fight Vladimir Mineev, given that in our last fight I fell asleep. I wanted to sleep. Not because of Mineev, because of himself. Although agree – and because of Mineev too. He was well prepared, he won. And you have to go back. The first fight – I think I won it, but only the second fight I lost counts. There is interest, I think we will make money too. But we were going to put an end to it.

– And in a cage or in the ring?

where he wants. Since I lost, I let him choose. Wherever he wants, I’ll be ready to work things out with him.

– And in principle at 84 kg? It seems that you both weigh around 95 kg, does it make sense that everyone drives weight?

– If he wants 84 kg, we will do 84. If he wants 90 kg, I will go with him up to 90.

Mineev (16-1-1) has not fought under MMA rules since his second fight with Ismailov, but fought under kickboxing rules twice in September and November of last year.
