Dmitry Bivol’s coach Gennady Mashyanov in an interview with said that Arthur Beterbiev in a duel with Britain’s Anthony Yard, he performed below his ability.
On Saturday in London, Beterbiev defeated Britain’s Anthony Yarde by eighth-round technical knockout and defended his WBC, WBO and IBF light heavyweight titles. Bivol owns the WBA belt.
“I didn’t see anything new in this fight, in principle,” Mashyanov began communicating with . Arthur won the fight. And so the fight turned out to be very difficult for him. Yard gave him a hard time at the stoppage. The fight was absolutely even.
– So you also thought that if you went the full distance, the judges in London might get their hands on Yard?
– Yes, in this situation, they could quietly raise their hands to Yard. Again, the fight was even.
– On the eve of the fight, everyone unanimously said that Yarda had no chance, but in reality we saw a competitive fight.
– Both boxers showed what they can do today. In the execution of both, I saw nothing new. We saw Yard fighting with Serezha (Kovalev), with others… And Arthur, it seems to me, was boxing a little below his level.
Beterbiev has 19 first wins in 19 fights in the professional ring. Bivol has 21 wins (11 by knockout).
