The Russian Boxing Federation announced on its website a series of international professional boxing tournaments “Intercontinental Cup” in Moscow.
The 2020 Olympic champion will take part in the competition Albert Batyrgaziev silver medalist at the Tokyo Games and world champion and winner of the European Games 2019 Muslim Gadzhimagomedov silver medalist of the European Games-2019 Khariton Agrba 2015 World Championship bronze medalist, and now owner of the WBC silver belt in second middleweight Pavel Silyagin and Russian Championship medalist Pavel Sosulin.
The tournament will bring together three teams from different continents – Africa, Asia and America, as well as the Russian team. The competitions will be held in five weight categories – up to 63 kg, up to 68 kg, up to 75 kg, up to 80 kg and up to 90 kg. Accordingly, a match meeting consists of five fights in each category. The combat formula is four rounds of three minutes each. For a victory in a duel, a boxer earns a point for his team. The representative of the losing team does not receive points. The final victory of the match goes to the team that scores the most points.
The Intercontinental Cup takes place in two stages. First, the teams will meet in a round robin system. The matches of the first stage take place with a frequency of one match per week. The second stage is the Superfinal. The teams that take first and second place in the first round will compete for the title of winner of the Intercontinental Cup. Shows as part of this international tournament will take place every week – June 4, 11, 18 and 25.
