Russian mixed style fighter Fedor Emelianenko said it was important for him to represent his country in the last fight of his MMA career.
Emelianenko will meet the American Ryan Bader on February 4 in Inglewood (USA). The first meeting of the fighters, which took place in January 2019, ended with the victory of the American by knockout in the first round.
This is my last mixed martial arts fight. It doesn’t matter what happens next. I wanted my last fight to be against a champion. I won the last two fights, now I need the final fight. That’s why I asked Bellator to fight the champ. Bader is very disciplined. I really like him. He is a very good person. And as a fighter, he is very dedicated.
My mother is waiting for me to finish my career. My family wants me to retire. I want to spend a lot of time with my girls. I can live without MMA. I like to fight, but it’s time to stop.
I represent my country. This is the most important thing for me, ”quotes Sports Illustrated Emelianenko.
In total, Emelianenko, 46, has 40 wins and six losses in MMA, Bader, 39, has 30 wins and seven losses.
