The Russian Boxing Federation reacted to the intention of the Finns and Swedes to boycott the Women’s World Cup in India

Russian Boxing Federation Secretary General Tatyana Kiriyenko has responded to the Swedish and Finnish boxing federations’ statement regarding the boycott of the 2023 Women’s World Championship.

The Women’s World Boxing Championship will take place in New Delhi (India) from March 15 to 31. On Wednesday, the board of directors of the International Boxing Association (IBA) voted to admit boxers from Russia and Belarus to competitions under the organization’s auspices with the decision taking immediate effect. The boxers will perform under the national flag and with the national anthem. Thursday, it was learned that the Swedish and Finnish boxing federations were boycotting competitions in which Russian and Belarusian athletes would participate.

– The Finnish Federation has announced that it will boycott the women’s world championship.

They already did this at the end of last year. Now a lot of letters are coming. We are ready for it. No need to be discouraged. When you do something, you don’t have that depression, and they, apparently, are in that depression. We are not. The competitions will take place in 12 weight categories. In 2018, New Delhi already hosted the Women’s World Cup. In 2019 the tournament was held in Ulan-Ude, in May 2022 it was hosted by Istanbul.
